I stayed overnight at Rydges Central in Albion St while I attended an appointment in Sydney. It was terrific! I chose the hotel for its proximity to Central Station, so I could walk there and back with ease. I dropped into the hotel at 12.30pm to ask if I could leave my bag and I was told that my room was ready so I was able to check in early. Yay! I also walked to my appointment in Macquarie St via lovely Hyde Park, and back via the Art Gallery of NSW, St Mary's Cathedral, Cook & Phillip Park swimming pool, and the Australian Museum. I paid $219 on Booking.com and it included the buffet breakfast, which I thought was pretty good value. It was a good sized and nicely furnished room with a sitting area and blackout blinds. I loved looking out over Albion St with the autumnal trees outside. I had asked for a room with a bathtub, and appreciated that this was provided. The buffet breakfast was terrific - it had plenty of options: fresh fruit, eggs, hash browns, bacon, tomatoes, baked beans etc, dim sum, egg-rice, cereals, yoghurt etc and you could make your own fresh juice. Barista coffee was available at an extra cost. All staff at the hotel were warm, polite and professional and reception kindly and at no charge provided some ice in a bag so I could ice a torn muscle I sustained on my way out of a cinema on nearby George St. (: (:

Great location, right in the heart of Surry Hills, minutes to Central station, buses/trams. Plenty of bars, cafes and shops nearby. Check-in and out was quick and effortless. I stayed during Christmas for a few days, and came back again in January as I'd enjoyed it the first time. Hotel is bright and welcoming. Rooms are good, beds SO comfortable, and everything spotlessly clean. Air-con is ok, a bit noisy but did the job well during some very high temperature days and nights. Rooms contain a fridge, which was useful during the hot weather to store a cold drink, however like any hotel with a mini-bar, those prices are expensive and to be avoided. The hotel has a swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna, which I used most days, it was usually quiet. The breakfast buffet is fantastic, great selection of food, with the usual eggs/bacon/sausages on offer, and also cold cuts/cheeses and vegetarian options, and also steamed dumplings and rice, nice for a change. There is a juicer so you can make your own juices, which I loved, I haven't seen that anywhere else that I've stayed. The Sydney Brewery bar attached to the hotel is good, with great food specials and happy hour twice daily. Check-out is 11am which is great so you're not in a rush after breakfast. Overall I was very happy with my stay here, it was a super convenient location.

We arrived with the duty manager, (Kenu?) booking us in; who was very welcoming and directed me for the parking. Our room wasn't quite ready; before long the housemaid corrected this and separated the bed into two singles. I personally loved our Welcome to The Rydges on the Television! Our stay was convenient for us and we were lucky to use the pool/spa and had breakfast delivered to the room; which was beyond our expectations. I will be returning to The Rydges Central in Surry Hills.

Really comfortable bed; huge room - cannot complain about the space or storage, and plenty of clean towels etc. Daily room service was great - one suggestion though; we were happy to not have it cleaned and towels changed daily, but we did need/want to have our milk and teabag supplies topped up, but were unable to get this done without the whole room being done.

Gwyneth

Very generous room size and it was nice having a couch. The cleaners do a fantastic job, everything was spotless. The food and drinks from the bar were really good and the guys there were super helpful and nice. Location was great for getting around and doing things either by foot or train.
